December 2nd, 2017 - Grandville Holiday VEX Tournament

In their first tournament of the 2016-17 season, BCAMSC Phoenix Robotics went to Grandville to participate in the Grandville Holiday HS VEX Tournament, one of the largest tournaments in West Michigan with over 60 teams in the high school division alone. Team P had some poor luck with allies, drive issues and bad luck and did poorly in the qualifying rounds, ranking 30th out of 30 in the Whoville Division. They were then chosen as the third seat ally for the eighth alliance. Team B went 2-4-0 ranking 21th out of 29 in the North Pole Division and were chosen as second allies by the fourth seat alliance. However, both were unfortunately eliminated in their first matches of the round robins. They then waited for awards while helping pick up the competition. During awards, Team P received the Design Award which qualified them for Regionals are Grandville January 27th. Congratulations! Good job to both teams!

November 11, 2017 - Hudsonville VEX Tournament

In their first tournament of the 2016-17 season, BCAMSC Phoenix Robotics went to Grandville to participate in the Hudsonville Robotics HS Only In the Zone Tournament, one of the largest tournaments in West Michigan with over 40 teams in the high school division alone. Team P got off to a rocky start, their wheels were not successfully turning due to motor issues and gearing and as a result their chassis was not 100% effective for the competition. In addition, the lift didn't have proper power to lift and as a result their scissor lift could not lift. Team P went 1-5-0 (wins-losses-ties) and placed 39th in the qualification rounds, and Team B went 3-3-0 ranking 25th out of 46. Due to interesting design to their robot and excellent judging, Team B left the competition with the Judges Award! Congratulations! Good job to both teams!

June Update - New competition!

The new competition has come out for the 2017-18 season, Vex in the Zone

February 4th, 2017 - Belding VEX Tournament

We're at it again! This time both teams went to Belding VEX / Robroy Enclosures HS/MS Qualifier to compete for the last time this season! Unfortunately, Team P faced mechanical issues which caused it to go 1-4-0 for the competition and not making it past qualifiers. Team B got 4-1-0 and ended up on the sixth seat alliance. Unfortunately, they were again taken out during the round robin by the eventual runner-ups of the tournament. We learned a lot and had fun despite our issues! Thanks to all who came out an supported us this season! We can't wait to see what may happen during 2017-18 season!

January 7th, 2017 - Jenison VEX Tournament

We participated in the Jenison Robotics HS Only Starstruck VRC Tournament! Team P faced some unfortunate circumstances and didn't make it past the elimination rounds. Team B, however, made it to the Round Robin tournament. They got two rounds in before unfortunately losing to the eventual winners of the tournament. Nice job to both teams and we can't wait for Belding!

December 3, 2016 - Grandville Holiday VEX Tournament

It's the most wonderful time of the year! In their first tournament of the 2016-17 season, BCAMSC Phoenix Robotics went to Grandville to participate in the Grandville Holiday VEX tournament, one of the largest tournaments in West Michigan with over 40 teams in the high school division alone. Team P got off to a rocky start, where they had a bad motor controller which resulted in their first three matches having no control over one side of the robot. Team P went 2-4-0 (wins-losses-ties) and placed 41st in the qualification rounds, and Team B went 3-3-0 ranking 27th out of 54. Due to impressive coding, Team B left the competition with the programming award named the Think Award! Congratulations! Good job to both teams!

April 23, 2016- Worlds Update

Team B had an amazing time at the Vex Worlds Championship. While they were not able to make it past the qualification rounds, they enjoyed the experience immensely! They had a bit of a rocky start wih some mechanical issues but still persevered! Their final score was 4-6-0. Good job representing BCAMSC Team B! Go Phoenixes!

Below, are pictures from Worlds of Team B.

April 12, 2016 - Week Before Worlds Update

Only one week left until Worlds! To celebrate, join us at Buffalo Wild Wings at Lakeview Square Mall in Battle Creek on Monday, April 18th for a good time before sending Team B to Louisville next Wednesday. Bring this flyer into the restaurant and hand it to your server and 20% of your purchases go to support your local robotics club. In addition, we are planning a movie fundraiser coming up close to the premiere of Captain America: Civil War in May at the West Columbia 7 movie theatre, so keep an eye out for updates!

Click here to view and print the flyer.

The end of the season is near, and we have begun planning for an exciting future. Because of recent growth in team membership, we would like to add a third robot to our club, and profits from upcoming fundraisers will help cover registration fees, part costs, and other expenses that arise over the course of the season. We appreciate all of your support!

February 21, 2016 - State Tournament

Recently, Team B participated in the Michigan VEX Robotics State High School Championship at MSU. They started off well, winning their first match, but sadly hit a rough patch for a good portion of the competition. Unfortunately, they ranked 41st out of 48. Despite this they still left the competition with the Create Award and an amazing spirit! However, all teams who scored ahead of Team B in Programming Skills wound up double qualifying and so because of their stellar performance in previous tournaments, Team B has earned a spot at the World Tournament in Louisville, Kentucky! Good job Team B!

We are now on our way to 2016 VEX Worlds! Be sure to check in for our progress!

January 23, 2016 - Webberville

Back at it again! Both teams participated in the Webberville Autodesk Vex Robotics Tournament. Both teams had a great time, Team P unfortunately did not make it past the qualification rounds due to poor luck with coding issues, going 2-4-0 and ranking in 17th place. However, Team B finished the elimation rounds in 1st place! As a result, they were the first to chose their allies and continued on through to the elimnation rounds. In addition, Team B continued to shine as it won over and over, going undefeated and winning the tournament completely! Team B ended up recieving not only tournment champions, but the Excellence and Programming Skills winners! Team P also went home with a Design Award! Good job to both teams!

January 9, 2016 - Jenison Winter VEX Tournament

In January, the Phoenix Robotics club traveled to Jenison, MI to compete in the first annual Jenison High School Winter VEX Tournament. In addition to having a great time at an awesome event, Team B went 5-3-0, placing 14th out of 46 teams in the qualification rounds, and Team B went 3-4-1, placing 26th. Team B was selected for an alliance in the elimination rounds, but was eliminated in the semifinals. However, with a score of 141 points, Team B was the overall programming skills challenge champion at the tournament and was invited to the U.S. Open! Congratulations guys!

Looking ahead, the last regularly scheduled tournament of the year is at Webberville High School January 23, 2016. Wish us luck!

December 5, 2015 - Grandville Holiday VEX Tournament

It's the most wonderful time of the year! In their first tournament of the 2015-16 season, BCAMSC Phoenix Robotics went to Grandville to participate in the Grandville Holiday VEX tournament, one of the largest tournaments in West Michigan with over 40 teams in the high school division alone. Although the day got off to a rough start that morning when one of the school vans broke down in Battle Creek and most of the team and the robots arrived an hour late, we recovered well and finished on a positive note! Team P went 2-4-0 (wins-losses-ties) and placed 28th in the qualification rounds, and Team B went 0-6-0, placing 41st. However, both teams' engineering binders and presentations impressed the judges very much and Team P won the Design Award! Congratulations!
